Prozac Intake Guidelines

•an unusual or allergic reaction to fluoxetine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant

How should I take this medicine?
Take fluoxetine tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow with a drink of water. You can take fluoxetine with or without food. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your prescriberdvice.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed. While this drug may be prescribed for children as young as 7 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply. What if I miss a dose?

•certain medicines for migraine headache (almotriptan, eletriptan, frovatriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, sumatriptan, zolmitriptan, dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methysergide)
•cimetidine
•cyproheptadine
•dextroamphetamine
•dextromethorphan
•dofetilide
•ergonovine
•furazolidone
•linezolid
•lithium
•metoprolol
•medicines for diabetes
•medicines for mental depression
•medicines for mental problems or psychotic disturbances
•methylergonovine
•nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, like ibuprofen)
•phenytoin
•propafenone
•propranolol
•warfarin

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, and herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

This medicine’s effects might not appear during the first month of your treatment with this medicine. You must not stop using Prozac without first consulting it with your personal physician, as this could trigger severe side effects. Prozac should be stored at the average room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
